Post Study Work Visa - Working and Business Visas in the UK

Post Study Work Visa

The new Post Study Work Visa also referred as the “Graduate Visa” will be re-introduced and open for students to apply from 2021. The final policy law on this will be confirmed in due course.

It is a welcoming news for all graduates who intend to come and study in the UK, as this will allow permit free employment to be taken up by graduates, who can then be able to switch into the current Tier 2 skilled work permit route.

As with the previous closed category, the Post Study Work Visa will allow students to work, or look for employment in the UK without any restrictions, after they have completed their studies in the UK.

This builds on UK government action to help recruit and retain the best and brightest global talent, as well as opening up opportunities for future breakthroughs in science, technology and research and other world-leading work that international talent brings to the UK.

How to meet the requirements of the Post Study Work Visa

To apply for the Post Study Work Visa, you will need to have completed your degree in the UK, hold a Tier 4 student visa, studied with a university and meet the specified maintenance requirements. The visa would be granted for a period of 2 years.

There will be no requirements to meet additional criteria for English language as you would have completed your studies in the UK.
There will be no provisions to extend your leave to remain once you have completed your 2 years Post Study Work Visa.

Post Study Work Visa refusal

If the Post Study Work Visa is refused, you will have a right to complete an administrative review and your decision letter will inform you of your reasons on the refusal.
