If we look at the previous highly skilled migrant visa, Indian nationals were the first given to apply and then it was made available to apply for other nationals.
We are seeing the similar introduction of the extended youth mobility visa scheme and the requirements are pretty simple:
You have to enter into a ballot and this would be done monthly. There is no charge to this but we may see a change to this depending on the number of people applying for this.
The ballot has a limit of 2,400 and for the month of February 2023, this had been met.
Requirements of the India Young Professionals Scheme
In brief, the requirements are as follows:
1. Must be an Indian national or citizen between the ages of 18 to 30.
2. Have a qualification equivalent to a degree.
3. Will have maintenance of £2,530 in funds to support yourself in the UK.
Must not have any children under the age of 18 years or who you would have financial obligations. This does not prevent married couples to apply and partners can come in the UK on the visa category.
Applying for the visa
Once you have been given an approval confirmation, there is a 30 days limit and then you can make an application for a visa to come to the UK.
The application must include information and documents on the visa scheme.
Periods of grant on the visa
The visa is granted for a period of 2 years.
Extending your leave to remain in the UK
The immigration visa route may allow switching however there has been restrictions and more details of the visa scheme will be announced.
