Tier 1 Exceptional Talent Application Process
Applying for your first Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent) visa is a two stage process
Stage 1 is submitted to the Home Office but considered by a Designated Competent Body and it is not an immigration application. It will assess your skills, abilitiesand achievements and decide whether you should be endorsed in order to progress your application.
Stage 1 is submitted online. It can be submitted from wherever you are in the world but the supporting evidence must be sent to the UK for consideration. The form is available here:
As stage 1is not an immigration application,it will not affect any current leave you hold in any way. If you are granted an endorsement by a Designated Competent Body, you must then apply for Tier 1 (ExceptionalTalent) leave to enter or remain. This is stage 2 of the process, which is undertaken solely by the Home Office and assesses only immigration matters.
How you applyfor stage 2 depends on where you are applying fromand your nationality.
There are separate fees for each stage. You cancheck whether you have been successful at stage 1 before you apply for stage 2.You can, however, also apply for stage 1and stage 2 at the same timeif you wish. Please note that stage 1 applications must be submitted by post and cannot be accepted at a Premium Service Centre or visa application centre outside of the UK.
If you are applying for an extension ofTier 1 (Exceptional Talent) leave which you already hold, you only need to make
a single application. You need to apply in the same way you did for stage 2. You do not need to obtain a new endorsement. You will need to pay the full Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent) feein a single payment.
You can also make an application for settlement once you have been in the United Kingdom continuously for 5 years.
